Medical Health Camps in Rural Areas of Madhya Pradesh

ChandraMohan Foundation’s objective to organize medical health camps was to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities and address the healthcare needs of the rural population. The camps were organized in collaboration with local healthcare organizations and government authorities and aimed to bridge the healthcare gap by bringing medical services closer to rural communities.

Many rural areas in Madhya Pradesh lack proper healthcare infrastructure and have limited access to medical professionals. Medical camps targeted marginalized and remote communities that often face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. These populations may include economically disadvantaged individuals, tribal communities, and those living in geographically isolated areas.

Methodology

The medical health camps were conducted over a period of three months, from January to March 2023. The camps were set up in various villages and remote areas of Raisen, Sagar and Indore, Madhya Pradesh district, targeting areas with limited access to healthcare facilities.

The following methodology was considered:

A. Pre-camp planning: We understood from an assessment of the healthcare needs in the target areas based on which we identified suitable locations for the camps and arranged for necessary medical supplies and equipment.

B. Mobilization: Local community leaders, village panchayats/sarpanch and partner NGOs played a crucial role in mobilizing the rural population and spreading awareness about the medical health camps. They assisted in communicating the camp details and encouraging community participation.

C. Medical services: The camps offered a range of medical services, including general check-ups, consultations with doctors, physiotherapists and distribution of medicines. Specialized services, such as dental, and women’s health were also provided.

D. Health education and awareness: Alongside the medical services, health education sessions were conducted to raise awareness about preventive healthcare, hygiene practices, nutrition, and family planning. Information was also shared about government health schemes and available healthcare facilities in nearby areas.
